Junior Academy of Entrepreneurship
|
Middle School programThe middle school Junior Academy of Entrepreneurship program is designed for eighth grade students to explore entrepreneurship ideas with their peers, develop a mini-business plan, and pitch their ideas "Shark-Tank style" before a panel of real-world judges.
The program can be integrated right into classroom curriculum at no cost to schools, as it integrates English/Language Art, Social Studies, Mathematics, and STEM. Alternatively, the Saddleback College Community Education program can deliver the same program in a weekly, after-school format for a $99/student fee. The 10-day program is completed in 60-90 minutes per day, either once a week or daily. |
This is truly a "plug-and-play" curriculum for eighth grade teachers, and the experience of lifetime for their students! For more details, contact Rebecca Knapp at (949) 582-4613 or [email protected]. We want to bring this program to your middle school!

program options
- Integrated/In-Class Curriculum – Your eighth grade teacher(s) will conduct the JAE Curriculum within their classroom instruction time in ten days, over 8-10 weeks, or any way in between. To accommodate this structure, the plan is designed in curriculum categories (i.e., the Introduction section fits within Language Arts, the Marketing section fits within Social Studies, and the Financial section fits within Mathematics.) This format is available at no cost to your school or students.
- After-School Program – Instructors will conduct the Junior Academy of Entrepreneurship Program at your school in a weekly, after-school format. Instructors could either be a teacher you have on staff who is interested in leading the program at your school (they would be compensated based on student enrollment through Saddleback College’s Community Education Program), or a Saddleback College instructor. This format requires a $99 enrollment fee from each participating student.
Inaugural program at Oxford Preparatory Academy
In 2014, the middle school capstone curriculum was piloted at Oxford Preparatory Academy in Mission Viejo, CA. In total, the program involved: Two eighth grade instructors, 73 eighth grade students, ten Saddleback College Business students, four Saddleback College CTE Instructors, and two Oxford Preparatory Administrators. By day ten, these eighth graders produced 13 solid business plans, and had become budding entrepreneurs!
Below is a letter of evaluation from the primary Eighth Grade Educator with whom we worked closely on executing this program. As you will read, she and her students were greatly pleased with the experience and its outcome. Let us bring the Junior Academy of Entrepreneurship to YOUR school, too! |
